You reacted with extraordinary compassion and kindness. I think I would not have. The restriction should have been made crystal clear on the Airbnb listing. It is not your job to read her mind, and it was a breach of contract. I'm not saying that you should have been rude or angry or unkind - but you should have allowed her to bear the cost of your inconvenience, as SHE broke the contract. What if there had been no other accommodations available, and you set off driving again - exhausted after 9 hours on the road, without any food in your stomach? What if you had been a young woman, traveling alone at night? She put you in a potentially unsafe position.

Insofar as one has such strong convictions as she has, they absolutely MUST communicate those up front before renting out their property.
