Would Stephen King deign to notice a tweet he’s tagged in, or say “Hi!” when one of his Followers gushes, “I’m your biggest fan!” (We all know what happened in Misery.) Those aloof pseudo-celebrities (as opposed to the aloof actual celebrities) belong to the “Fake It Till You Make It” club, and ought to be roundly blacklisted by all the better clubs. But they’ve mastered the art of click-bait, so it’s hard — so hard — to remember that.
