When I was a child, I ate as a child - usually at "old people restaurants" because my grandparents, and even my parents, were "old people" (at least by comparison to me).
Now I am not old enough to give up the "exploration" phase of life, but I am old enough to occasionally partake of the Senior Special and even to laughingly engage in that wondrous rite of passage - showing my AARP card, which I got expressly for this purpose, at Denny's. I have not used the damned thing since.
There is wisdom in old people - not always, but often enough that it is no shame to follow them to their favorite culinary haunts. They settled in there for reasons.
