They say “sarcasm doesn’t work on the Internet,” but I think it works overtime and serves nicely as a filter for weeding out the humor-impaired. (Or at least those who are dead-set against giving anyone benefit of the doubt.) There’s sarcasm that’s cruel, but then there’s sarcasm that’s silly or flippant — okay, maybe inappropriately so, sometimes — which is why I left a few private comments, just to gauge the room, on Timothy Key’s marvelous Story about hot dog casseroles:
