Distraction is imaginary opponents
playing Chess in a sea becalmed;
Faith, the certainty that when tomorrow dawns
We will have reached that unmoving horizon
that divides Heaven from the watery depths,
and hope from despair.
Because we are sailors, the wind must move us.
We are not oarsmen, and so, for now
We play Chess.
