The sad thing, to me, is that I think we’re past the tipping point. I was saying all these things, four years ago. I tried to understand what Trump supporters were for, and kept asking them to tell me. All I got was, “He’s not Hillary,” and “He’ll stick it to the libtards.” Not one person articulated a positive value he stood for.

I tried to understand. I really, really did. But now? I no longer care. I’m degreed in rhetoric and writing, and it’s beyond my skill and interest level. I can’t see these people as anything but hateful supporters of a childish bully, a failed businessman, a vindictive narcissist and his grifting family, willing to sell out this nation and over half its citizens, because they feel put upon at the thought of women, BIPOC, immigrants, LBGTQIA folks, and disabled people fully sharing in the RIGHTS they, themselves, take for granted. The so-called “Moral Majority,” the white “Christian” Evangelicals, the Tea Party, the pro-fetus (but anti-universal healthcare, anti-single mother, anti-childcare and welfare folks) have been lording it over everyone for decades, but proving themselves — through word and deed — to be the basest sort of hypocrites for decades. And they don’t care how scandalously immoral and amoral their own are, so long as they hang onto power.

So good luck. This may well be the most expedient, if not downright Machiavellian approach — but I think it’s too late.
