Sometimes, yes. I think, sometimes, we confuse hypocrisy with change. Perhaps it’s time, distance, and some modicum of consistency that makes the difference. Some self-awareness, and a will to change — rather than defensive denial.
Ask my kids — dishonesty is the one thing that really angers me, and hypocrisy is one form of it. But I also think there has to be room for change and growth, and that shouldn’t be labeled “hypocrisy.”
