See, I violently DO agree with you here. But the argument assumes that the public school is stocked with "qualified instructors." Some are STELLAR. Some are idiots. Just like parents. And we are headed for a major crisis as educators LEAVE a profession where they are abused and underpaid and caught like the rope in a nasty game of tug of war between ideologues, parents, administrators, politicians, and kids. Oh, they love the KIDS, for the most part. The KIDS are the only thing keeping them there. But that's not enough. And funding to pay them more? Well, some would tie that to their willingness to indoctrinate your child with a set of uniform beliefs and to whitewash history.
