Scrapers and AI are different beasts. (Anyone here remember ICHI[.]pro? They're still around. They do NOT steal MY stuff on Medium anymore. I found it all - several times - and sent their webhosts so many DMCA take-downs it made their lives difficult. They STILL scrape Medium. But not my stuff. :) Problem is, writers get resigned and fatalistic and think it's not worth the effort to make thieves pay. And they don't ALWAYS have each others' backs and bother to say, "Oh, hey, Steve - isn't this YOUR work I see over here on xyz.site?" (That would be a kindness, right?) Anyway, that's not what AI does. AI is just a really fast, statistical predictive text engine. If you catch it plagiarizing, go after the deep pockets that built it. Till then, it's pretty bland, boring, serviceable, soulless stuff. Just don't be those things in your own writing.
