Really? Not if they ever watched Star Trek.
Much of this was dreamed up half a century ago (or more). Now it's developing faster than we are, and the potential for misuse outweighs the usefulness, in some cases.
An AI-assistive writer is great, in the hands of an intelligent, ethical person who understands that there is almost no intelligence - just artifice - in it, and does the heavy lifting to validate the veracity of any assertions, edit the AI driven draft, and publish responsibly. That's not happening, and people are still unthinking enough to mindlessly spread disinformation, so it will simply result in a faster dumbing-down of the internet. That's the thunderclap I'm hearing.
