The thing is, I think we largely remain in the situation through ignorance and inexperience. For some, it’s still by design. For some, it’s convenient. But I think large numbers of people just never think about it, because by default, they don’t have to, day-to-day. So they think racism exists only in the history books.

Large numbers of men are still surprised that large numbers of men are sexual harassers and abusers, too. That, or they know, and they’re all pigs — but I refuse to believe that.
