My own bucket is my personal web site, A More Positive Perspective. Fortunately, Medium allows me to write there and share here, too. What we writers of fiction are good at is writing fiction — and creating buckets (when we’ve an urge to do anything but write fiction). We are not (most of us) terribly good at leading readers to drink from the bucket.

We need people who love and are good at marketing. We need editors. We need readers (and we need to BE readers — this is playing to our strengths, and a way to ensure that we have water with which to fill buckets, whether they are ours or others).

Creating and schlepping our own buckets around is NOT what we’re made for, so I think the answer to your question is “Yes, publish more in Illumination.” Or any other big bucket where fiction is welcome. But don’t get lost in the creation of more buckets.
