Many of the COVID-deniers and anti-vaxxers will point to this stat as "proof" that it was all a hoax - "Hospital visits are actually DOWN!" I'm glad you connect the dots, here, for those who may not fully realize why that was.
I didn't delay care - just the opposite. I had scheduled all my checkups to happen right before retirement (as my insurance was changing - not because I was losing it). I went into the pandemic healthy and worked to stay that way. As an introvert, I was happy to have my own bias confirmed - people make me sick. ;) (Just kidding. Sort of.)
The only unvaccinated people I care about are the ones who have not had an opportunity to GET vaccinated and those who, by virtue of age or medical conditions, cannot get it. I'm fully vaxxed now, and getting better at controlling those Jewish space lasers with a flip of my hair. They're naming a crater on the moon after me.
I will continue to wear my mask on request around vulnerable people. Because I get that MINE protects THEM. Fortunately, being vaccinated, I no longer have to worry so much about their nonchalance concerning MY health.
I am glad that you're mostly out of the COVID "war zone" now. I am so sorry for your colleagues who have left, or are leaving the profession because of the hell they've been through and people's lack of concern for THEIR well-being.
So...how about vestibular migraines?? I'm interested in how sunlight can make us dizzy... ;)
