Letters From the Front
It was an almost-bloodless coup.

Sitting here, on the Front, I tell you,
The war is cold. Stale cigarettes and coffee,
Aching spine and hips —
Now and then, I let secrets slip.
Just a bit, a byte, subversive SOS, but oh
My God, how can you be so stupid?
I am bored, here in the trenches.
I could say anything, anything…
“Up is blue,” and one of you damned fools
Would make a ruckus
Banning blue. Or up. Because “they” will tell you —
Down is the only way to go.
Yes, down. To Hell. Indeed.
But for the love of all that’s holy…
Hurry.
