It's also what makes writing more interesting and relatable, as opposed to something that reads like an academic essay or cookie-cutter blog post. It's hard, sometimes, as others have pointed out. Sometimes, that little voice inside screams, "NO. I don't wanna write about this! I won't do it." Plowing through to do it anyway OR turning the prompt on its head is what sets some writers apart and makes the reading fun. I want readers to come away feeling they haven't wasted their time. They're not always going to LEARN something profound and startling from my writing, but I hope that they either learn something or are well entertained for a few minutes or hours.
