I’ll reject stories for my publication — if the writer didn’t follow the submission guidelines. That said, I haven’t rejected any because no writer has yet been unwilling to do the work needed to make their submission a good fit.

Publications that take almost anything are doing novice writers a disservice. Writers need to understand that submission guidelines are important, as I’d professionalism.

I have no idea what my rule 5 and 8 are about. I think I used a bulleted list. [Ed. note: OK, #5 is important —

That said, they’re all important and #8 is only there for writers who actually want to submit something — more of an instruction than a “rule.” See, even Editors are smart to double-check their own guidelines before submitting or throwing rules around by the numbers!]
