I used to do this.

Honestly, I started off trying to be a decent person. If I couldn’t locate the thief’s contact information, I would leave a comment asking them to remove my work because it’s in violation of my copyright. This tactic works 25% of the time. Sadly, most people only respond to abuse reports.

I used to do this. Now I skip this step. I don't talk to criminals. Just go straight to "report it to their host." The hosting company can deal with THEIR customer. You don't have to. Take a look at this, Felicia:
