I think you are, Bob. From where I sit, your writing is evolving. I’m glad you can’t not write. As with your analogy, we can’t not, um, “go." But when it feels that way, straining at it is rarely the best or healthiest approach, is it? Finding a routine that works and fits comfortably into our lives is the goal.

I also like your point about improving the golf game. To really learn, grow, and improve our writing skills, we have to experiment, make mistakes, figure out why they’re mistakes (if they are at all — maybe they’re discoveries!), adjust, try again, keep trying... Think of art and approach writing with the carefree abandon of a child with fingerpaints, crayons, and a big roll of butcher paper.
