I think I follow #1 and #3, but part of me aspires to write novels for young adults that help them with their SAT studies. I am unrepentant if I occasionally (not always, of course!) drive a reader to the dictionary. I was delighted, last week, when not one, but two writers here drove me to one. But no, there’s challenging and then there’s merely difficult. I only want to challenge, not to thwart and annoy.
