I make my own coffee, put on headphones, and fire this up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qU8o3_T5y5M&t=23s

I think that music, even good music but especially anything with lyrics, TV, and social media rob us of our ability to connect our words and feelings. It's so gradual, we don't notice. But I have been trying to limit "meaningful sounds" and use this background "ambiance" noise for a while, and my productivity in writing has about doubled in the past two or three weeks. That's not saying much, to be honest. But I'm trying to make a discipline of it. I do believe, as other writers have remarked, that if you show up on the page regularly, things begin to happen. If you don't - then neither does that creative spark of imagination some call a "Muse." It's almost as if you've told your brain it's really not that important, even as you say otherwise to yourself and to friends.
