I still doubt there’s some inherent “racism” here — out of a pool of images with keyword tags, those that come up first from the start are most likely to end up being the “most popular” and therefore continue to be the first, simply because people are lazy and won’t dig down fifty pages (especially ONE at a TIME, can you even imagine ever getting to results 30K+??)

Medium, and Medium Staff, and Medium Engineering — we hope that you are looking into this. Now is not the time to be seen as having racist bias even if it’s just AI and math. :D Give us more search operators and maybe even more randomized results. Many were already complaining, too, of seeing the SAME featured images, over and over and over. Sure — some of them are very good images. But some of them, let’s get real, are just low-hanging fruit because it’s not easy to get at the 15,872nd image in the pool.
