I agree. The world is far more nuanced than “cancel culture” allows, and “cancel culture” makes allowances for it’s darlings while publicly disembowelling those it dislikes. It is uncomfortably similar to the “struggle sessions” and criticisms / self-criticisms of the communists.
That said, I refuse to “agree to disagree” when the issue is discrimination rooted in immutable characteristics. It’s simple: If you consider something a right, but would deny that right to any other human based on some accident of birth, we’re not having a difference of opinion — we’re having an irreconcilable difference of morality.
I raised two young adults I’m quite proud of. They are compassionate, logical, and tough minded people. They are not the “children” you describe here. Neither are many of their peers. I don’t worry want more about their generation taking over from ours; I worry we won’t get out of your own way, and theirs, in time.
