Cynical, no. Lacking in empathy, yes. And I hope you never experience the death of a child. You cannot experience pregnancy, miscarriage, or stillbirth — that’s a mixed blessing, honestly.

A celebrity writing from the heart what do many women can’t or won’t express with so much raw emotion touches readers. If she’d just written a typical “woe is me” post, I’d agree with you. I do agree with you that every person’s personal tragedies matter — hers isn’t “special” by virtue of who she is. I’m neither a fan or a detractor. I’m the mother of two young adults, and one person who never got to be.

In that particular post, Tiegan is a woman, a wife, a mother — not a celebrity. She’s one of us. And for men to write stories attacking her or dismissing her — that’s what feels hurtful and wrong.

So maybe, again, if you can’t be bothered to read with empathy, just bite your tongue and still your fingers and move on.

There’s always Kim Kardashian’s birthday bash to bash.
