At least one stock photo company I know of requires contributors to submit passport photos and other proof that they are who they claim to be, because some of their countrymen have been SUCH egregious violators of copyright that none of them are trusted by default. Can you imagine? It's not "racist." It's statistical and it is deeply embarrassing for some of the professional photographers from those areas, because they have to deal with having their own images stolen by these same people - they know! They don't argue or complain about being questioned. They get it. And it's terrible and sad that they have to "get it" at all.
