Are you referring to a site you own and control?

Compilation copyright — imagine the old phone book. You are AT&T. You can claim copyright over the whole thing — it’s particular arrangement — but not the individual entries.

Now, a publication ON Medium can’t do much, here, beyond notifying contributors. That is definitely “enough.” I was referring (at least thought I was) to the owner of a website. NOT a publication like any of us can start on Medium and have little control over. But it’s an intriguing question as to whether we could assert that right. That would be one for an IP attorney. The more I think on it, the more I think it might be worth a shot.
