And not to let them languish after the novelty wears off, too — that’s important, in keeping writers and readers engaged.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumblings and grumblings. It’s just a natural (and unfortunate) side effect of rapid growth and success. I wish people who weren’t happy with a publication would put more work into building up their own than they do in tearing others down.
I have one. It has one Editor and one contributor — me. That’s enough work! I am now a contributor to eight pubs on Medium, and I love them all for making me feel welcome in their own ways. Not a single one has expressed jealousy of the others, and in fact most of the Editors and Writers are active on multiple publications here — I keep seeing the same names — oh, hey, that’s it, isn’t it? Write well, publish widely, engage with, help, and promote others — repeat! I think we’ve figured out the super-secret, magic formula for Medium success!
