Amen to this. Most of the best writers are mediocre self-promoters at best. And they want to WRITE, not promote, promote, promote.

The proof is in the pudding, though. I hope this happens, but it won't if you can't avoid the mistakes of sites like Themestream and Redpaper and The Vines and... I forget. So many forgettable sites out there had lovely ambitions for writers, but got lost along the way.
