Agreement requires a meeting of the minds. This means that unless you can separately negotiate terms with Medium (as I would assume large content providers, say, The Atlantic, could do) then your continued use of Medium after 8/31/2020 constitutes your "agreement" to their terms. Period.

Or if enough small content providers (us) take our marbles and play elsewhere, perhaps they will revise the terms. I wouldn't hold my breath on that.
