Absolutely.

But even that can change from day to day, when asked "What do you appreciate MOST about your life RIGHT NOW?"

I mean, I could have given the cliche answer, and it would have been absolutely TRUE - "My family, my husband, my kids..." - but RIGHT NOW (when I wrote this) they weren't in the room. And my husband and I had just returned from a little trip together to a place I used to think of as "the middle of nowhere." Once we were there, I wondered why my parents never took me to South Dakota or more of our national parks - and because they hadn't, we didn't really think to take OUR kids. Then, two, we had the annual few weeks' vacation, most of which was devoted to visiting family - either in places we'd been to many times before, or places we ALL agreed on by consensus. I'd fantasize about having time and money to travel, but as time went on, I honestly started to think it would never happen.

But now, we are retired "empty nesters." We get to enjoy visiting our children and our grandson, but also have more time as a couple than we've had since we got married almost 40 years ago. Isn't that weird? Even before we had kids, we were both working - and working different hours.

Maybe the thing I really appreciate the MOST is that we are retired, spending almost every minute together, and we not only love each other, but we still LIKE each other!
