A very good and sensible review. I don't use Google docs much at all, unless I'm collaborating with others who need/insist on it.

I love Word for long documents, but I just compose and format most of my WordPress posts IN WordPress. It saves (and I save manually) regularly enough I feel secure, now, doing this. In past years, that wasn't the case. But it feels as safe as Google docs, anyway.

It would not be worth a monthly fee for ME, but what I love about your review is that you don't try to sell it as being an "awesome tool for everyone and their cat." In my (almost a) year on Medium, I've come to see you as a trustworthy expert on many things.
